Greetings all, I figured I would include a bit more than just music in this update as video games are my favorite games.
To stay with the theme, I figured I would at least pick a game that is somewhat "classy" or at least not generic brown and bloom 12:the sequel.
After a bit of thought I settled on Silent Hunter 3. As our beloved wikipedia states: "Silent Hunter III is a submarine simulation developed by Ubisoft Romania and published by Ubisoft. It was released for the PC on March 15, 2005. Like Silent Hunter II, it places the player in command of a German U-Boat during World War II and the Second Battle of the Atlantic. "
For all the pesents out there trying to become classy, a U-Boat is a submarine, specifically what was used by the germans in WW2. Although vanallia is fine, much like STALKER, SH3 has much to gain from mods. Specifically one called GWX or the Grey Wolves Expansion.(see here)
After a bit of modding the real fun begins or for some, thats when the boredom begins. Depending on your difficulty that you pick (can choose things like limited fuel, no external camera, etc) you will be forced to do more and more things by hand. Quite often when I am not streaming and have time to do so, I use an expo marker and an old CRT screen and draw all over it while plotting courses, firing solutions, and working out speeds and targets manually. Much like dwarf fortress, the initial learning curve for this game is truely immense. If you have the time and patience to deal with the unforgiving gameplay (pissing off the wrong navy, or sinking the wrong ship) I find it to be fairly rewarding. Either following realistic paths for the U-boat you were assigned, or going on daring attempts to pass through Scapa Flow. Regardless, its a pretty cheap game that can be found on almost any site, or on sale almost everywhere online/ebay for around 5 bucks + shipping. Much to my excitement, Silent Hunter 5 is coming out soon, a must buy for me. But then I found out that of all the new games Ubi has, a SUB SIM is going to be massively pirated, so they plan to put the shitty always on internet DRM, so fuck them, ill stick to the third one.
